Zero waste and positive impacts are even on the agenda at the leading oil and gas sector show
For a few years now, Abu Dhabi in November has been a regular date in Way2Global’s planner. The capital of the United Arab Emirates is the venue for the world’s leading trade fair in the oil and gas sector, ADIPEC.
The event is an important opportunity that brings Way2Global into contact with the leading energy companies, many of whom we regularly collaborate with as language partners. But it also gives us the chance to meet new players on the market, to whom we can present our specialist translation and interpreting services.
As we visited the various stands, this year we were pleasantly surprised by the importance given to the issue of sustainability by an industry that depends on resources that are by their very nature unsustainable.
In this year of sustainability, in accordance with the Business Roundtable agreement, it seems that the challenge of bringing about positive environmental and social impacts is being taken up by less predictable sectors, where previously it would have been difficult — although not impossible — to adopt a sustainable approach.
A pursuit of new, cleaner solutions that entail less waste is not the only thing we share with the oil and gas industry. We were also heartened by the profound digitalisation of an industry that is proving it can seize opportunities and rise to the challenges posed by the fourth industrial revolution to become Oil & Gas 4.0, while the conference sessions on diversity and inclusion, designed to incentivise greater female participation in the industry, were another highlight.
